IPI lecture - Florian Neukart, University of Leiden, The Netherlands
Our next IPI Talk will be on Saturday, 24th of May. at 17.00 London time.
Title: Gravity and the Fabric of Information: Exploring the Geometry-Information Duality
Abstract:
What if gravity is not only shaped by energy and matter but also by information? In this talk, I will present recent research introducing an informational stress-energy tensor derived from quantum entanglement entropy, which contributes directly to gravitational dynamics. This leads to calculable corrections to Newton’s constant and black hole masses, effects rooted in quantum information rather than classical fields. We will explore how this framework connects geometry and information at a fundamental level and what it could mean for our understanding of spacetime, cosmology, and the unification of physics.Author: Florian Neukart
BIO: Florian Neukart is a professor of quantum computing at the Leiden
Institute of Advanced Computer Science and the Chief Product Officer at Terra
Quantum AG. His work spans applied quantum computing, AI, and foundational
physics. He is the author of over 120 scientific publications and several books
and, besides working on quantum technologies, focuses on how quantum
information may underpin the physical laws governing our universe.
